We made it to Brunswick, GA at Brunswick Landing Marina. We have come to the point in our journey where we now judge a marina by it’s bathrooms and laundry rooms. This one was definitely top 5 if not number 1! Brand new bathrooms (they were still doing touch ups) with FREE laundry. (I hoard quarters to do our laundry). They also had happy hour with free wine and beer, a workout room, and a library to “leave a book, take a book”. And to top it off, beautiful sunsets.

We now have our car and we have to do the logistics of renting a car to go get our car from the previous marina location. Basically, our formula is a day in the boat equals an hour in the car. We had to make a stop at the famous Buc-ee’s for the bathrooms and snacks.

Near Brunswick is St. Simon’s Island. We took an afternoon to explore the shops, restaurants, and the pier. They also have a scavenger hunt to find the “Spirit Trees”. The Tree Spirits of St. Simons Island are unique carvings created by artist Keith Jennings. These intricate faces are etched into the trunks of oak trees throughout the island.

St. Simon’s and Brunswick are known to have huge, old live oak trees that are just beautiful, including one called the Lover’s Tree.

Brunswick also has lovely old Victorian homes. We walked through these old neighborhoods every day enjoying the architecture.

We stayed in Brunswick for a week. We are now headed North, next stop Savannah.
