Our next big stop along the way was Charleston. We have actually visited before, but it was great to see it again and get to see it from a new perspective (the water!). The old homes were beautiful, we really enjoyed the history and the food!

We stayed at a great marina with a helpful staff and made friends with “Gold Loopers” (people who have completed their loop). Once again, we meet the NICEST people along the way. We were able to go out to dinner with Patrick and Leela, and Patrick was kind enough to take me to the airport.

We visited the lovely Boone Plantation (where parts of The Notebook were filmed!). A beautiful old home, gardens and live oak trees and we learned about the rich history of the area.

Our dear friends Tim and Melissa came for a long weekend. We took a historical walking tour and then went to Fort Sumter. We were the first group of the day, and we got to be a part of the flag raising ceremony. We were also able to take them on a day cruise of the Charleston Harbor.

As I write this, we are on a 7 day trip from Charleston to Norfolk where we plan to spend about 3 weeks. We have had long, hot days, and our first day we hit a pretty heavy rain storm with wind gusts up to 50 mph. We got a little we, but thankfully the rain let up before we docked. Thanks for following our adventure!
